Meditation for Dealing with the Recession
Meditation for Dealing with the Recession
How has the current recession affected you? Have you chosen to be a victim of society and the current times or are you taking advantage of the changes in focus that the recession has brought?
Now that people are losing their jobs on a daily basis, tightening their budgets, and thinking of new ways in which to save money many people’s priorities have drastically changed.
The current economic state of this country is forcing us to really think before we buy something. Long gone are the days of spending on $4 dollars lattes, expensive brand name clothing, shoes, purses, and cars, manicures and pedicures, spa days, etc. Besides, were these such great things anyway?
In reality, all the things we used to buy and do were actually distractions that fulfilled us momentarily. I can tell you there has been many a time when I have been or witnessed a friend or family member be filled with the excitement of having purchased something new and then… see it sit in the closet or drawer for months to come.
The recession is forcing us to return to the olden days, the days when family and friends mattered a lot more, where our focus was much more on the family and home life… the times when one lived the present and did not worry about the list of things to do, things to achieve, and things to obtain as much as we do now.
Use this time to get back to the real you, meditate to get to know yourself, spend time with your family, go shopping in your closet, give away whatever you don’t need or use.
De-clutter your house while you de-clutter your mind. You will see the great rewards you reap!

I couldn’t agree with this post more. Thank you very much for posting it. My husband was laid off from his position in a very large bank just a week and a half ago. Things are extremely chaotic in our house right now.. but I definitely think this is going to be an opportunity to rearrange our priorities and get back to what’s important!
Hi Carmellita,
Thank you for your comment! Yes, there is definitely a great relationship between creativity and meditation. I have been practicing TM for 19 years. Before that I used to try to meditate using tapes and books, which didn’t work for me at all. The techniques for teaching TM have been thought through and refined over many years. You learn everything you need to know to meditate effortlessly and reap the greatest benefits. It is one of the best investments I have ever made for my own well-being.
Yes, it seems to provide incredible benefits to people. I will definitely take a look at the studies and mention them on this blog. Thanks for the info! I look forward to hearing more from you at The Garden! How long have you been practicing TM? Did you practice another technique prior to that? How does TM compare?
I have been doing Transcendental Meditation for years and have nothing but good effect from the twice-daily practice. It reduces stress, keeps me healthy and happy. And it is completely effortless to do, and so simple to learn. And what I also like about TM is that there are over 600 studies showing how good it is for my mind and body. Have a look at the web site http://www.TM.org for all scoop on the Transcendental Meditation program.

Learn how to the practice of meditation can actually help you in dealing with and succeeding through the recession we are currently facing in the United States….
Hi Angie,
Thank you for the compliments on the blog! Meditation has had such a great impact in my life. It took me from being in a field of profession that I thought I was happy with to now being an online publisher in meditation.
While practicing law, I never felt satisfied but fell into the 9 to 5 (more like 8am to 10pm) rat race. So many of us fall into the rat race huh? Some people don’t even realize they are in it until they are almost at retirement age! Then they find its too late to make a change in their lives because of all they’ve invested into their career, even if they wanted the change.
My mission is to bring information about meditation to people that need it and can benefit from it the most (parents, children, students, professionals, and anyone who is busy and needs to slow down to the speed of life!)
I look forward to hearing more from you at My Meditation Garden. I love to read comments, advice, and questions from the readers!

I Love your advice to use this time to get back to the REAL (or as I would say authentic!) you! Simplify! The best gifts are in the little things- a blooming flower, a child’s laugh, a breath of fresh air. Congratulations on a wonderful creation (this blog!) Blessings!
