Medical school can be incredibly stressful. He is under a lot of pressure to succeed because not only is medical school competitive, but it also tends to attract perfectionists. He should definitely try meditation to deal with all the anxiety he is facing. Even if he meditates for 10 minutes per day, he will notice a much calmer feeling throughout the day. Eventually, he will deal with stressors throughout the day in a less reactive manner and they will not affect him emotionally as they do now. All the best to you and him!
