Meditation on National Stress Awareness Day

Meditation on National Stress Awareness Day

Meditation for Daily Stress on National Stress Awareness Day

Meditation for Daily Stress on National Stress Awareness Day

Meditate on this: Did yo know that today has been named National Stress Awareness Day? That’s right. Dr. Morton C. Orman’s nonprofit health education organization, The Health Resource Network, has declared it so. April is also being named National Stress Awareness Month. Its a good choice of month being that taxes (W-2s being a clear and direct symbol or all our hard work) are a reminder of all our hard work.

Stress has become so prevalent in the United States that we now have a day and month to be ‘aware’ of it. I’m not sure what this means and whether this will be a good or bad thing. It can either inspire people to take control over their lives and find ways to reduce and manage stress in their life or it can support their belief that being stressed out is normal and acceptable.

For some people, this day and month may serve as the crutch they’ve been looking for to continue to feel “stressed out” being that now its such a cool thing that there is  a day and a month named after stress.  It can give them the sense of importance and busyness they achieve when they tell others that they are are “stressed out” because they have so many things to do.  For others, this may be a wake up call to donate, advocate for, or do further research themselves on ways to prevent and handle stress in daily life.

Studies have been done and are currently being done on mediation as treatment for many mental, emotional, and psychological disorders. Hopefully, naming today Stress Awareness Day will be a catalyst for more studies to be done.

The US is one of the countries in the world with the most stress if not the most stressed.  Though this country is a lot more open to learning about meditation, there is still much more to be done in this field. I personally hope to one day see a day in the US be called National Meditation (Awareness) Day…

What do you think about today being National Stress Awareness Day? Do you think its a good or a bad thing?  In what ways do you think we could spread the word to professionals, single mothers, parents, students, and others about benefits of meditation, meditation techniques, and mediation in general? I would love to hear your opinions and thoughts and look forward to sharing what is on our minds.

  • Mackenzie,

Very well put! Thank you for your excellent comments and your kind feedback! I’m glad you are enjoying the movies!

  • Nelson,

Thank you for all of your input and kind words. I’m really glad you are able to share the spritual movies with your family. It’s a great way to bond with them while exposing them to positive and energizing lessons.

Anyone wanting to find out more about these movies can read my review.

  • Nelson Harris says:

You are right that stress is a holiday in this country! This is the most “stressed out” country in the world… and now that we are in the middle of a recession; I think the stress has tripled.

I took McKenzie’s advice and signed up for the spiritual movies. The ones I just watched for this month were very nice.

I was able to sit with my wife and 4 kids and enjoy them. It gave me a chance to hang out with them and even talk to them about spirituality.

I’m very pleased. Thanks for doing the product review of their spiritual films.

You have a very good site by the way.

  • Mackenzie Wilson says:

It is ironic huh that we have a day to “celebrate” stress!
That just tells you so much about our society and how much emphasis we give on working and being productive. The recession is shifting our priorities though and people are beginning to realize that materials and appearances are not as important as they though they were.

What’s really important is family and friends and community. I signed up for the spiritual cinema circle movies and am really enjoying the films! They are really good and positive. Thank you very much for writing about them. I had no idea they even existed!
