Mixing Binaural Beats and Guided Meditations
In this article series I will teach you how to mix any number of guided meditations with binaural beats recordings to greatly enhance your meditation sessions. For this article I’ll assume you are already familiar with the concept. If you are not, then make sure to read the article about binaural beats .
Ok… at this point, you understand or have experienced the dramatic difference that binaural beats can make in the quality of your meditation. You may also be aware that there are binaural beat products on the market that include several CDs and sell for several thousand dollars. I won’t mention any names here in support of one program or another, but if you do a Google search for binaural beats, you won’t have to look very far. I will say that, clearly, these products are out of the price range that most people are willing to pay.
On the other hand, the internet is overflowing with free guided meditations. Very few of these, however, incorporate binaural beats. Why? I’m not sure. Possibly it’s the added complexity of mixing these things together (although this isn’t really hard at all). I think a more likely explanation is that these guided meditations are designed to appeal to the widest group of people possible. I’m sure that there is a segment of people who would be turned off by hearing these tones in the recording and not understanding their purpose.
There are ways to disguise the binaural beats, for people who find these tones somewhat annoying. Noise masking works very well over binaural beats, partially because it’s not distracting. It sounds sort of like static from a TV that’s not tuned to a channel. Plus, since it contains an equal amount of energy per octave, it doesn’t “mess up” the relationship of the two binaural beat tones… sort of like dividing both sides by one in high school algebra (math…yuck – I know).
While this makes the recording far less irritating, it still leaves the recording sounding quite dull. (Oh gee, I get to listen to 30 minutes of monotonous static, instead of 30 minutes annoying tone… Hoorah!).
Sooo, what do we do? Well, we could put a wide variety of sounds like chimes, wind, running water and music. We could even record guided meditations over the top of them. Actually, there are already several companies out there that do this. So what’s the problem? Well, the guided meditations that already include binaural beats on them tend to be VERY expensive!
Pricing for these sort of products varies wildly. Almost all of the companies out there produce several CD’s which you can often purchase separately. While you may listen to one of these for a while you will probably become bored with it before too long. Don’t worry… they will be happy to sell you another one! Still, so far I’ve found that the products on www.binauralbeatsmp3.com and www.meditation-downloads.com are the best. The www.binauralbeatsmp3.com page sells a package that includes binaural beats for different issues (anxiety, sleeping, energy, relaxation, etc) and www.meditation-downloads.com even lets you download a free sample. I have and still use the binaural beats from both of these sites and recommend them.
Instead, in this article, I’ll teach you how to mix binaural beats with music and guided meditations. Don’t worry… it’s easy and I’ll walk you through the whole thing. And best of all, the software that you need to mix the two together is FREE! Once you learn this simple process, you can mix in any number of guided meditations, which are available for free all over the web. I’ll even show you where to find them!
