Spirituality…a journey
I have just arrived at home from what I can only label as a spiritual retreat… some call it a spiritual seminar, some call it a presentation or speech..
All I know is that I truly felt spirit and accepted it completely. I thought I had already accepted God, spirit, Allah (whatever you call him/her/it) into my life. Today, I realized I was wrong.
I had no idea that I was so entrenched in the corporate world and had been such a strong skeptic this whole time. This really surprised me since I was raised in a religious home. There is a difference though between spirituality and religion. All I know is that today I finally made myself ready to receive whatever God has for me… and this has been an absolutely incredible experience and a blessing. Today, I learned more about myself than I have in the past 29 years. I came to terms with many things in my life and… I felt and saw a huge wave of energy rise from my knees to my head and get stuck there for a little while. I now have a headache, feel nauseous, and am extremely overwhelmed. Yet, it was well worth the journey and I know this is just the beginning. Through meditation I will continue this path to enlightenment and closeness with God.
Have you ever had an experience similar to this where you just let go and accept? Did you resist it at first? How did it feel for you? Did you get a headache afterwards? I would love to hear about it and know it would greatly benefit everyone else reading this.

Fantastic! Yes, definitely make sure to join the Meditation Garden Community! I look forward to seeing you there!
What an incredible experience! Thank you so much for sharing it with everyone. It helps to hear experiences from others since sometimes we generally tend to be self-conscious and afraid of things like that (the unknown, etc). It really helps to have a community and a place where we can share this type of information with each other like in The Meditation Garden Community you created on Facebook. It’s great. I’m going to make sure to send it to my friends too so they can also join and share their experiences.
Be well!
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the compliment on the site and I would love to see you back sharing at the Garden. We are nothing if we are not a community!
I definitely agree that many people are scared. There is fear of the unknown and also of the uncontrollable. I can tell you I was personally very afraid while it was happening. That fear is what caused the huge migraine I felt while the Kundalini energy wave was rising. The energy was not able to flow freely and got stuck in the crown of my head. I cannot even describe to you how painful the headache was! Only when I finally let go and accepted everything that was happening did the headache subside. I literally felt as the energy started to move again through my body once I let go and accepted. It was an absolutely amazing experience and currently when I meditate I can still feel the energy flowing lightly. Since it happened, my meditation experience has completely changed and is much more spiritual than before. Does that make sense?
Your site is great. I love all the personal experiences. When the Kundalini opens it can be very frightening for some people. For some it can see very violent and others just sale through with no problems. this is the most powerful of all the chakras. I believe that many people are still extremely afraid of the ‘unknown’ but if they experienced every a tiny bit of ‘the opening’ they would realise that it actually opens a whole new world for them.
Great site. I will be back often.

Paul,
Thank you for your compliment on the site and thanks for sharing with us your experience. I must admit, I think you are right about the resisting. I was resisting even though I was not even aware of it! I went to a spiritual retreat a few days prior to the one I mentioned and felt skepticism when I saw what I saw. You see so much on television that it sometimes becomes ingrained in you to be a skeptic. That day, I only felt a very nice and soothing relaxation. Only on the one day I mentioned was I ready to really accept. That is when I felt the kundalini energy come as a wave. I did research on this and it appears to be that I had my root chakra unbalanced (which of course had been affecting me in my daily life). That day, the kundalini energy emerged from the root chakra and traveled through the other chakras to the top of my head. It traveled too fast though, which is why I had the intense migraine.
The experience really changed by life and perception. I do look forward to feeling it again but hope the energy will not move as quickly to avoid another headache. The root chakra had been unbalanced and the energy was stuck there for a couple of decades. It’s no wonder it came swooping out once I accepted and allowed it to move.
I look forward to hearing more from you and appreciate your comments, advice, and feedback!
Todd,
Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us. During my experience, I remember tensing up so much that my stomach muscles were sore afterwards. It was as if I was doing crunches… Heck, I did more crunches that evening than I do regularly at the gym! The vibration started in my hands as well and I consciously knew something was happening. I remember the exact moment I gave in and just accepted it. That is when the vibrations or energy as I call it began to move from my hands and my feet to my stomach. There were points that the only way I can explain it was that my body was experiencing muscle spasms (which I couldn’t really control.) It was not necessarily a pleasant experience while I was going through it. I think the Kundalini energy moved too quickly and I was not ready for it (not knowing what it was at the moment) which is why it got stuck in my head and gave me such an intense migraine. In all, once I accepted everything completely, the kundalini energy moved from my head and my headache subsided. I literally felt the headache just melt away (kind of like a piece of butter melting on a pan). It was an incredible experience and has changed me. I now see life in a much more compassionate way and haven’t felt the stress I used to feel since the experience. It’s like something in me was released which had been pent up for years!
Keep writing us. I love to read readers’ comments and experiences!
I had an experience of some sort related to the “deer exercise”…
The first time or two I tried, which was last week, nothing really seemed to happen. However, a couple nights ago, I decided to focus more on my breathing while contracting the target area. I noted a sensation building in the target area, but it didn’t seem to move up my spine as suggested. Rather my body began to twitch and then began to vibrate. It also felt to emanate more from my extremities, working back through my body until my entire body was vibrating.
The second time was similar but I did notice something of a point of no return. I could reach a point where I could stop when the vibrations would just begin, and if stopped at that point, I could feel the vibrations in my hands, kind of in my ears, but remaining in these areas. Out of hesitation (unsure if I really wanted to experience the vibrations again), I approached this point once or twice more going a little further prior to stopping until I found myself at the moment where I could not stop the vibrations from overwhelming my body.
In each case, I am unsure specifically how long the vibrations lasted, probably five or ten minutes (I do not recall this much time actually passing, it is an estimation based on observation of a nearby clock). I will note that my body felt like it was tensing up rather than relaxing as I focused on holding the target area contracted, so I do wonder if my body began vibrating from that tensing, or if I was experiencing something else. I do remember laughing after the first time, not so much the second, probably from uncertainty of the experience. And now the muscles in my back feel very strained, or something.

These are exactly the kinds of experiences I am sometimes able to achieve. I kind of happened on meditation by accident. I didn’t use the word meditate, because sometimes it just “happens”. I usually call it consciousness. Or if it’s this amazing experience of being bathed in spirit, I call it enlightenment. I use lots of different words. So, yes, to answer your question about acceptance, this seems to be the key. Often there is huge resistance, especially when there is discomfort and internal chaos. But I must say I have the opposite experience from what you describe: Any pain I have goes away, including headaches. Thanks for a wonderful site.
