How Does Chakra Meditation Benefit Me?
What is Chakra Meditation?
Chakra meditation is a form of meditation that is concentrative, recharging, and cleansing. It is used as a balancing form of meditation that is used to channel in good energy and to get rid of negative energy that is in your body. Chakra meditation is not something to be taken lightly, but it is a powerful way to meditate and to energize and cleanse the body.
Chakra meditation uses thought, contemplation, and reflection on the various chakras to bring about the rumination and balance that is needed and to provide more energy as well. It can be performed in a couple of different positions including lying down or sitting in a position that feels comfortable and relaxed. It’s one of the few meditative forms that does not require you to be seated with your legs crossed.
Chakra meditation is particularly good for recharging the body, mind, and soul. It does this by seeking to achieve balance by focusing on the seven chakras, or energy focal points, withinthe body. Chakra meditations are simple, yet powerful techniques for developing inner poise and keeping your life in balance.
Systematic Chakra Meditation
In systematic Chakra Meditation, you progressively move your focus and attention through the chakras, along with awareness of the nature of each chakra. This helps prepare the mind to be able to focus on the chakras. A very common chakra meditation is done in 30 minutes by moving your attention upwards through the seven chakras, allowing 3-4 minutes for each chakra, and then downwards through the seven chakras, allowing about 30 seconds each (to bring you back to being grounded). However, even if you don’t have this much time and want to do a quick meditation, you will still feel the benefits. Even a brief practice of Chakra Meditation of 30 seconds to 1 minute is quite pleasant and useful, and can be done often.
Experiences of Chakra Meditation
While practicing chakra meditation, many people choose to listen to soft, soothing music or to listen to complementary music that is soft and relaxing. This is not a requirement but strongly recommended. I personally listen to chants and soft melodic music when I do this type of meditation technique.
As you are meditating, it takes deliberation to focus on the chakras and to get rid of problems and bad energy that may be contained therein. This takes discipline and concentration as you visualize each chakra. Also know that different chakras may move in different directions so you should not try to guess what will happen or guide the direction in which the chakras turn. This is something that commonly frustrates people and in turn makes them lose focus while they meditate.
It is commonly believed that as each chakra is activated and energized through chakra meditation, increased psychic and astral abilities will result until at last the crown chakra is reached. Still, don’t expect all these chakras to have a “clear” or “easy” feeling the first time you do this. It may take several times before the chakras will change and become clear and balanced.
